GYM RULES & ETIQUETTE
Welcome to CAMISA DEZ BJJ. Please adhere to the following gym rules and etiquette:

Footwear Policy:
-
No Outdoor Footwear Beyond the entryway: outdoor shoes must be removed immediately upon entering the facility.
-
Appropriate Footwear in Common Areas: While in the bathroom or viewing area of the basement, please ensure you wear socks or indoor footwear such as flip-flops or sandals.
Hygiene & Grooming:
-
Daily Personal Hygiene: Ensure that you shower and maintain good personal hygiene before attending class. This includes using deodorant and washing hands thoroughly. Cleanliness is crucial for preventing the spread of germs and maintaining a comfortable environment for everyone.
-
Clean Uniforms: All training uniforms (gi or no-gi) must be clean, free of odors, and washed after each class.
-
No Strong Scents: Please avoid wearing strong perfumes or colognes, as some individuals may be sensitive to strong odors.
-
Foot Hygiene: Keep your feet clean, dry, and free of any infections. If you have any foot conditions (such as athlete’s foot), take appropriate measures to treat them before participating in class.
-
Cover Open Wounds: Any cuts, abrasions, or open wounds must be properly cleaned and covered with a bandage or athletic tape before training, to prevent the risk of infection and keep others safe.
-
Nails Must Be Trimmed Before Class: For the safety and comfort of all participants, ensure your fingernails and toenails are short and well-groomed before stepping onto the mats.
Mat Etiquette:
-
Respect the Mats: The training mats are sacred in Jiu Jitsu. Please bow before entering and upon leaving the mat area as a sign of respect. No shoes are allowed on the mats at any time. Always keep the mat area clean and free of debris.
-
No Food on the Mats: To prevent spills and maintain cleanliness, food and beverages (excluding water) are not permitted on the mats.
Training Etiquette:
-
Armbar Mat Etiquette: When practicing armbars or any other submissions, always apply techniques with control and caution. Tap early and often to avoid injury, and immediately release your hold when your partner taps.
-
Respect Your Training Partners: Always be considerate of your partner’s safety and well-being. Training should be cooperative, not competitive. Communicate with your partner to ensure a positive and safe experience for both.
-
No Rough Play: Roughhousing or overly aggressive behavior is not tolerated.
General Gym Conduct:
-
Punctuality: Arrive on time for class. If you are late, wait at the edge of the mat and seek permission from the instructor before joining the session.
-
Respect the Instructor: Follow the instructor’s guidance and instructions at all times. If you have questions, ask respectfully at an appropriate moment.
-
Clean Up After Yourself: Dispose of any trash, water bottles, or personal items in the designated areas. Help us keep the gym clean and organized.
Health & Safety:
-
Report Injuries: If you sustain an injury, whether minor or serious, inform your instructor immediately. Do not continue training if you are injured.
-
Stay Home if Unwell: If you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of illness, please refrain from attending class until you are fully recovered to prevent spreading sickness to others.
By adhering to these guidelines, we can all enjoy a safe, clean, and respectful environment conducive to learning and growth in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Thank you for your cooperation.
